Who are you, how old are you and what are you doing right now?
My name is Maike, I’m 26 years old, I finished my studies in Composition for Film & Theater 3 years ago and since then I’m working as a freelance film composer.
How long have you been composing, where do you get your inspiration from, are there artists:inside and genres that inspire you specifically?
I wrote my first piece of music when I was 7 years old, but after that it took quite a while before I started composing more.
The impetus for me to write film music came from the score to the last Harry Potter movie, written by Alexandre Desplat – after hearing that, I wanted to be a film composer.
Why did you apply for the Masterclass?
I applied for the Masterclass because I find it very exciting to write for orchestra and want to develop my skills in that way. Also, it’s great to hear your own music played by real musicians. It’s very rare to get the opportunity to do that, so I applied as soon as I heard about the Masterclass.
