Who are you and what are you doing at the moment?
My name is Felix Lopp and I am a musician and composer from Leipzig. I am currently in the final stages of my Master Jazz Composition/Arrangement at the HMT in Leipzig. In my music studies I was mainly trained as a jazz pianist and composer.
What do you associate with film music and composing, what do these things mean to you?
I owe my great interest in music and also very much of my entire early musical socialization to film music and the medium of film. Even as a young boy I would always create a soundtrack of the movies I loved, just to be able to hear the music and the sound of the movies.
How long have you been composing?
For a few years I started to get more and more involved with film music myself, composing a lot of music or analyzing and transcribing scores of my heros.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Are there artists and genres that inspire you in particular?
The scores of John Williams, Howard Shore, Harry Gregson-Williams or John Powell and many others have been my constant companions ever since.
What do you hope to gain from the Masterclass?
I am very happy to have been selected for the Masterclass and to receive exciting insights from the work as a media composer and especially the work with an orchestra.
